New beginnings are cause for celebration. What better way to celebrate our launch than with a home made CBD mocktail? Whether you're new to CBD or a veteran of Cannabis sativa, there is a whole world of ways to enjoy this magical molecule. Thank you for being here during our inaugural recipe post, so dust off your party glasses and gather some ingredients with us as we make our version of a "Whiskey Sour" featuring freshly made ginger simple syrup and Decarb tincture from yours truly.
This recipe has a little bit of prep work, but like all good things in life, your dedication will pay off.
To make this mocktail you'll need:
- 60 mL (2 oz) Lemon juice (fresh is best)
- 30 mL (1 oz) Ginger Simple Syrup
- Decarb CBD Tincture (1 dropperful per person)
- 15mL (1/2 oz.) Pomegranate Juice
- Sparkling water or ginger ale to taste
Ginger Simple Syrup - Fresh ginger cut into slices
- 125 mL (1/2) cup sugar
- 250 mL (1 cup) water
Prep: Slice the ginger vertically along the root for the most interesting shapes. Any way you slice it, you want your ginger to be 3-4 mm thick (or about 1/4" for everyone out there using "Freedom Units").
Place your sugar and water on the stove and bring to a simmer. Add the ginger and cook down until your mixture is a good simple syrup consistency (20-25 minutes). The mixture will be more viscous when it is hot, so you will know for sure if you've archived simple syrup when it has cooled.
Remove the ginger from the simple syrup mixture and set aside for garnish. If you have a dehydrator at home, these make great candied ginger! You can have mocktail garnishes on hand for your next celebration, or Tuesday evening.
Once your syrup has cooled, mix the rest of your ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake to incorporate. Add 30 mL to your glass of choice and top off with sparking water or ginger ale to taste.
Cheers to you! Thank you for being here, we're looking forward to more of these recipes in the future as well as discussions about the important things in life and of course, cannabis and CBD education.
