Are Acidic Cannabinoids The Same As Minor Cannabinoids?

What Are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are compounds found in cannabis and related products, though recent research has shown that they also exist in nearly all mammals and can come in an assortment of forms with their own effects.

Two of the most well known cannabinoids are CBD and THC, which are revered for their therapeutic properties, both physical and mental.

However, a wide variety of cannabinoids are now being studied for their own unique medical applications. Some of these are what is referred to as acidic cannabinoids, such as THCV, THCA, and CBDA. Others are referred to as minor cannabinoids, such as CBC and CBG.

We’re here to walk you through what these different cannabinoids are and share how they can help you on your cannabis journey.

What Are Acidic Cannabinoids?

Acidic cannabinoids are cannabinoids that have not been “activated”, so to speak.

Through a process called decarboxylation, THCA and CBDA transform into the more commonly known THC and CBD.

However, when used in the THCA and CBDA forms, these cannabinoids are chemically different enough that they don’t fully connect with the cannabinoid receptors in your brain. What this means is that the psychoactive components of these cannabinoids are simply not present, but you still receive their full medical benefit.

THCA is noted for its potential in treating Alzheimer’s, seizures, and cancer.

Similarly, CBDA has been studied for its anti-inflammatory properties, along with its use for people suffering from chronic nausea.

THCV is a similar cannabinoid, commonly found in sativa cultivars, that has been noted for its appetite suppression properties. It has been studied and found to be effective in helping people who have PTSD.

What Are Minor Cannabinoids?

Minor cannabinoids are cannabinoids that appear in lower amounts in cannabis, yet still provide their own specific health benefits.

CBG is most often found in high-CBD cannabis and was originally noted for its effectiveness in reducing THC’s psychoactive effects. More recently, CBG has been utilized for pain relief and as an anti-inflammatory.

CBC has been found to help people suffering from colitis and other related syndromes. And it is useful as a treatment for depression and anxiety.

Conclusion

While acidic cannabinoids and minor cannabinoids are sometimes sold on their own in certain countries, they often are sold in blends designed for a variety of health and wellness needs.

We look forward to helping you explore these different compounds and how they can help you with your health journey!
